Welcome to Pluralsight. My name is Sean Wilkins, and I am a network engineer, author, and technical editor at infoDispersion. I'm excited to welcome you to my course, Maintenance in the Cloud. This course is one of many courses that are being introduced into the Pluralsight library to cover the new CloudPlus objectives. This course is specifically targeted on the subjects covered under the maintenance objective. In Determining the Best Solution Patching Methodology module, we focus on organizational virtualization and cloud patching, including the different methodologies, processes, and procedures. In Investigating the Updating and Maintenance of Cloud Elements through Automation module, we will talk about updating and maintenance within an organization, and how it can be automated. In the Reviewing the Different Backup and Restoration Methods module, we discuss the different backup and recovery concepts and methods that are used within organizations. And finally in the Application of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Processes module, we finish up, and discuss disaster recovery and business continuity plans, and how they are designed to ensure organizational operations during a disaster. By the end of this course, you'll have a good base of knowledge to successfully understand the different maintenance concepts, technologies, processes, and procedures that are commonly seen implemented on cloud and virtualization-based solutions. Determining the Best Solution Patching Methodology
Hello everyone, and welcome to Maintenance in the Cloud. My name is Sean Wilkins. In this course, we will continue our journey about the cloud, and move into the different maintenance concepts, technologies, and features that are used for cloud solutions. As noted in the previous course, the cloud is a very popular skill for technical professionals, and watching this course series is one way of proving your cloud skills. This course will include four different modules, starting with the Determining the Best Solution Patching Methodology module that is focused on organizational solution patching. In the Investigating the Updating and Maintenance of Cloud Elements through Automation module, we will talk about updating and maintenance with an organization, and how it can be automated. In Reviewing the Different Backup and Restoration Methods module, we talk about the different backup and recovery concepts and methods that are commonly used within organizations. And finally in the Application of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Processes module, we finish up this course and discuss disaster recovery and business continuity plans, and how they are designed to ensure organizational operations during a disaster. Now that we have gone over the overall structure of the course, let's move into the contents specific to this module, the Determining the Best Solution Patching Methodology module. As noted previously, this module covers a number of different topic areas surrounding the patching of virtualization and cloud-based solutions. We begin with a section on patching fundamentals, including a review of the common process that is used to ensure proper patch assessment and implementation. Next we move on and talk about the different virtualization and cloud elements that exist, and how they are affected when a patch becomes available. We then discuss the different deployment types and methods before finishing up with a short section on patch management best practices. So now with all this out of the way, let's get started.

This module begins with a review of automation and orchestration, how they relate, and how they are typically used. We then move on to a section on the basics of performing updating and maintenance within an organization. And we finish up with the a discussion of the different updating and maintenance tasks that are commonly automated. So now with all of this out of the way, let's get started.

We then move on with a section on backup targets, including discussing the different destinations that are typically used for organizational backup. We finish up with a discussion covering some additional backup concepts and terms, as well as a review of some best practices. So now with all this out of the way, let's get started.

Application of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Processes
Hello everyone, and welcome to Maintenance for the Cloud. My name is Sean Wilkins, and this is the Application of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Processes module. This module covers a number of different disaster recovery and business continuity concepts and techniques. We begin with a section on the essentials of disaster recovery, including what it is, and how it is used by organizations to mitigate the risks associated with a sudden loss of systems. We then move on, and discuss the different diaster recovery techniques that are commonly used. We then finish up with a section on business continuity, including defining what it is, and how it fits within the plans governing organizational behavior. So now with all this out of the way, let's get started.
