Description

This course will focus on the topics discussed in Chapter 6, sections 6.1-6.5, of the Project Management Body of Knowledge, more commonly referred to as the PMBOK® Guide. This chapter is dedicated to the Project Time Management knowledge area, one of ten such knowledge areas in the PMBOK® Guide. First, the Project Time Management knowledge area is introduced, along with how to plan schedule management in a project environment. Then, viewers learn about defining and sequencing project activities, exploring how various portions of project work can interrelate and depend on one another. Later, the course explores how to estimate activity resources and durations on the project, looking at how the selection of resources can be impacted by project requirements and constraints, and introducing a variety of estimation methods. Finally, reserves and contingencies are discussed.

Defining Project Activities
Welcome back. In this brief module we'll be discussing the Define Project Activities process. First, we'll introduce the process and see how it relates to some of the other things we did in project scope management, such as putting together a work breakdown structure and the various work packages they're in. After that, we'll look at the process components as found in the PMBOK guide. Let's get started.

Sequencing Project Activities
Welcome back. In this module we're going to discuss Sequencing Project Activities. First, we'll introduce the sequence activities process, then we'll discuss precedence diagramming, followed by dependency determination. After that, we'll look at leads and lags in more detail, and then put it all together with project schedule network diagrams. Finally, we'll look at the sequence activity process and its various components as found in the PMBOK guide. Let's get started.

Estimating Activity Resources
Welcome back. In this module, we'll be looking at the Estimating Activity Resources process. First we'll introduce the process, then we'll look at resource calendars, how to develop them and what their role is in schedule planning. We'll look at bottom-up estimating. And then finally, we'll explore some of the process components found in the PMBOK guide. Let's get started.

Estimating Activity Durations
Welcome back. In this module we're goint to look at estimating activity durations. First, we'll introduce the process and what we use it for. Then, we'll look at a variety of estimation techniques, beginning with analogous estimating; moving on to parametric estimating, then three point estimating. After that, we'll look at the importance of contingency reserves in your project, and, we'll explore this process' components as found in the PMBOK guide. Let's get started.
