Metadata is an often-overlooked but pivotal part of the post-production process. This course will help demystify metadata so you can better understand why it is useful to all levels of editors. Required Software: Premiere Pro CC.
When it comes to staying organized and setting up a project properly, no creative professional has it harder than the video editor and motion graphic artist. In a single project, they may deal with dozens, hundreds, perhaps thousands of assets at a time. Metadata is often a word that strikes fear into the hearts of editors, but if mastered, can make perusing thousands of clips in search of that one golden shot, a piece of cake. In this course, Premiere Pro CC Mastering Metadata, you will see a break down to help understand what metadata is and how to use it to your advantage. First, you'll cover common metadata related terms and concepts. Then, you'll see how to quickly access and edit metadata for many clips at once. Finally, you will see how to search your metadata and make use of it for exports and future videos. When you've finished the course, you'll have a deep understanding of why metadata is a must. Required Software: Premiere Pro CC.

Course Overview Hey, everyone. My name is Jason Cox and welcome to my course on Premiere Pro CC Mastering Metadata. I'm an Adobe Certified Instructor and owner of Some Might Say Media LLC. I've met a lot of editors in my day and, I've got to say, there's one common bad habit among the majority of them. They're usually pretty poorly organized. If you're dealing with hundreds, or maybe even thousands, of assets in a project and are also constantly reusing the same pools of media in your projects, well, if you're not particularly organized, you end up wasting a lot of valuable time when you could be editing instead of just looking for the content you want. In this course, we're going to discover how to use metadata to your advantage when working with large batches of media, whether you plan on using them just once or over and over. Some of the topics that we will cover include an introduction to meta data and settings, viewing and editing meta data in the project panel, exploring the meta data panel, practical uses of meta data, and understanding the media cache. By the end of this course, you'll have a better appreciation for meta data and taking the time to manipulate it and use it to your advantage before and after the editing process. At the beginning of this course, you should, ideally, be familiar with the basics of Premier Pro's interface. So, sit back and join me on this journey on Premiere Pro CC Mastering Metadata here at Pluralsight.
