System Services and Activity Monitoring with Python

by Sean Wilkins

As a member of the security team, you will need to know how to monitor for abnormal behavior. This course will prepare you to design and deploy Python solutions to monitor for abnormal behavior and gather information about deployed servers.

What you'll learn

As a member of the security team, it will be useful to know and understand Python to maintain the security of the company’s network. In this course, System Services and Activity Monitoring with Python, you’ll learn about several concepts that enable a network security engineer/consultant to design and deploy solutions that aid in their day-to-day activities and help expand on their potential abilities. First, you’ll learn how to collect information about both local and remote servers using Python. Next, you’ll learn how to use Python to interact with MySQL, DNS, and geo-location servers to collect information on specific resources. Finally, you’ll learn how to monitor processes to ensure they are performing only their expected duties and not overutilizing resources. When you’re finished with this course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge required to utilize Python for some of the most common network security tasks that can then be used to extend your security toolkit.
