Throughout these lessons we go through the very exciting process of creating environment illustrations. We will begin by blocking in each of the major shapes in their own layers, and then refine them to become the foundation of our image. We'll then block in colors and textures into the background, middle ground, and foreground layers. We'll complete the process of illustration by establishing a focal point and rendering our painting to an appropriate finish. By the end of this training, you'll understand the importance of staying focused on the procedures and steps used to create a quick and effective environment illustration. Software required: Photoshop CS4.

Introduction and Project Overview
<<MUSIC PLAYING>> Hi, everyone. My name is Alex Kozakowski. I'm a freelance concept artist and illustrator working in the video games industry. In this course, we're going to develop a quick and effective technique to paint environments in Photoshop. Some of the key takeaways from watching this course will include learning how to set up your layers for easy editing and modifying, how to create convincing textures to bring life to your environment paintings, how to understand value and how light and dark creates a believable landscape, how to use Photoshop techniques like clipping masks and layer masks effectively. And by the end of this training, you'll have learned how to use Photoshop's capabilities to their full potential in creating an environment painting. I'm excited to work with digital-tutors and share these techniques with you. So let's get started with the first lesson.
