The Challenge

Capita’s development team are agile-mature and excel at continuous improvement, as evidenced by their recent Level 5 CMMI accreditation.

As part of their commitment to excellence, Capita DDC (Digital Development Centre) needed a partner to help them identify potential issues that could lead to wasted efforts and missed deadlines.

With Flow, Capita set out to:

  • Improve on-time delivery of software

  • Deliver efficiencies while reducing waste

  • Increase engineer satisfaction

  • Enable data driven decisions

Flow is an important part of reporting in Capita DDC, driven by Rajiv Bhalotia (Principal Manager), relied upon by leaders such as Madhusudhana Rao Gollapudi (Managing Director, DDC) and BU Directors (Adithya Chivukula, Sarvesh Sinai, Narendra Patwadkar) and Satakopan T (Director Software Metrics & Quality Compliance) alike.

“With Pluralsight Flow, we were able to gain insights into our software engineering team's way of working which helped to make data-driven decisions that improved our engineering teams coding patterns where it was implemented. The tool's ability to have coding patterns in visual form helped to identify areas for improvement for better performance. Additionally, the dashboards and reports provided us with a clear overview of our agile development team's progress, making it easy to measure our success and make informed decisions.”

The Solution

Once they instrumented their practices and workflows with Flow, they discovered that although they were strong across much of their development practices, there was meaningful room for improvement across two key areas:

Predictable Delivery

By using Flow on a regular basis, team leaders are able intervene at the right moment to ensure that the projects they are working on remain on track. This has increased the number of high-quality releases ahead of schedule.

Effective Collaboration

Capita also leveraged Flow data to share insights across teams to standardize best practices and uplevel the team as a whole.

For example, by analyzing collaboration patterns and behaviors, Capita DDC was able to use pair programming to assist those who needed it. This effort bridged knowledge gaps, removed blockers, and optimally distributed workloads—preventing further bottlenecks or knowledge silos down the line.

We’re honored to count Capita as a Pluralsight customer and we’re excited to continue to partner with them as we work to advance the developer experience, collaborate more effectively, and improve predictability.
