  1. Challenge

    Run Your First Podman Container

    Let's try the following:

    1. Check for running containers as cloud_user and root
    2. Check for local container images
    3. Search for httpd-24 container images
    4. Run the docker.io/centos/httpd-24-centos8 image
      • In detached mode, with a tty to run commands
    5. Check for running containers as cloud_user again
    6. Check for local container images again
    7. Check the contents of the /etc/redhat-release file on the server
    8. Open a bash shell in our container
      • Check the contents of the /etc/redhat-release file in the container
      • Try accessing the Apache web server running on port 8080 using curl
      • Exit the container's bash shell
    9. Try accessing the Apache web server running on port 8080 using curl from the server
      • This will fail as we haven't published port 8080 on the container
  2. Challenge

    Clean Up

    Let's clean up after ourselves!

    Do the following:

    1. Check for running containers as cloud_user again
    2. Stop our running container
    3. Check for running containers as cloud_user again and verify it's stopped
    4. Remove the container
    5. Check for running containers as cloud_user again and verify it's removed
    6. Check for local container images again
    7. Remove our httpd-24-centos8:latest image from local storage
    8. Check for local container images again
