Gyeyok Haruna has spent over six years in data and AI governance, working across regulated industries and emerging markets. That range taught her something most governance programmes miss: the problem is rarely a lack of policy. It’s policy that was never built to survive contact with reality. She calls this Governance Theatre, and built the Governance Gearbox to fix it, a practical framework that turns governance from a compliance burden into a strategic advantage, used to teach both data and AI governance depending on what an organisation actually needs. Gyeyok is a regular speaker at industry conferences, mentors aspiring governance professionals through the Global Techathon and AI4Good programmes, and volunteers with Girls in Data UK. She teaches the way she builds frameworks: practical, memorable, and built to be used from day one.
