What you'll learn

TypeErrors that the type system could have prevented keep surfacing at runtime in large Python codebases, and annotation efforts lose steam when there is no strategy for generics, protocols, untyped dependencies, and enforcement. In this course, Advanced Type Hinting and Annotation Management, you'll develop the ability to design and maintain type-safe, annotation-driven Python systems at scale. First, you'll examine the architecture of Python's typing system and work through advanced generic, callable, and protocol-oriented patterns. Next, you'll learn to orchestrate annotations at runtime using Python 3.14's annotationlib and to manage annotations across a large codebase through stubs, py.typed, and strictness ratchets. Finally, you'll see how to enforce typing in CI and build an annotation-driven framework of your own with Annotated metadata and dataclass_transform. When you’re finished with this course, you'll have the advanced Python type-hinting skills and knowledge required to create robust, enterprise-grade, type-safe codebases.
