To apply the DMAIC methodology in any improvement project is key for Lean Six Sigma professionals. In this course, Applying the DMAIC Methodology, you’ll learn how to put the core Lean Six Sigma methodology into practice. First, you’ll explore the Define phase of the DMAIC approach. Next, you’ll discover phases Measure, Analyze, and Improve. Finally, you’ll learn how to control improvement projects based on the Control phase. When you’re finished with this course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge of a Green Belt certified professional needed to work in any Lean Six Sigma improvement project.
Course Overview Hi everyone. My name is Frederico Aranha, but please call me Fred. Welcome to my course, Applying the DMAIC Methodology. I am an independent project management and governance consultant, as well as a Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. This course is the first course in our Lean Six Sigma Green Belt learning path and the most important course regarding the DMAIC methodology in our platform. DMAIC stands for Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control, and it is the heart of the Lean Six Sigma approach to quality management. By now, you should have already completed our Yellow Belt learning path here at Pluralsight, which is a requirement for the Green Belt learning path and the present course. Some of the major topics that we will cover include a complete presentation on the Define phase of the DMAIC methodology, including how to create a project charter, its benefits, the power of a business case, how to define scope and to identify stakeholders for an improvement project. I'll also teach you about team member roles, how to set ground rules and how to perform a stakeholder analysis. Next, we will study the Measure phase, starting by a presentation on how to apply the FMEA technique, how to create the FMEA, or FMEA spreadsheet, how to work with discrete and continuous data. I'll teach you how to explore the different levels of data and nominal data, ordinal data, interval, and radio data. I'll also teach you how to choose the best measuring systems and how to apply Gage R&R tools. The Analyze phase of the DMAIC methodology will be more focused on analyzing cause and effect, and also on how to work with graphical analysis using Pareto charts, box plots, hypothesis testing, correlation and regression analysis, as well as design of experiments. Together, we will study Improve phase where I'll teach you how to create a Solution Selection Matrix, how to improve financial metrics, and how to pilot a solution. The last module in our course will be about the Control phase of the DMAIC methodology, and together we will create a control plan. By the end of the course, you'll have a solid understanding on how to apply the DMAIC methodology. From here, take our next courses within the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt learning path. I hope you'll join me on this journey and learn with me more about how to apply the DMAIC methodology, here at Pluralsight.
