What you'll learn

Many learners entering Azure understand that workloads need compute, but haven't yet built the hands-on fluency to act on it. In this course, Azure Compute Fundamentals, you'll gain the ability to confidently identify, launch, and troubleshoot a simple Azure virtual machine. First, you'll explore which workloads are actually well-suited to a VM versus a managed platform. Next, you'll discover how to plan, create, and secure a simple VM in the Azure portal, including inspecting the full resource bundle behind it. Then, you'll learn how to diagnose and fix the most common VM availability issues, from a stopped instance to a blocked network path to an unresponsive workload. Finally, you'll compare VMs against some of the managed platform options in Azure to understand what responsibility you keep and what you can hand off. When you're finished with this course, you'll have the practical Azure fluency needed to choose the right starting point for a new compute workload.
