What you'll learn

Distributed applications often become difficult when several services need to coordinate state, handle concurrency, and remain scalable under load. In this course, Building Distributes .NET Apps with Orleans, you’ll gain the ability to build distributed .NET applications using Microsoft Orleans and the virtual actor model. First, you’ll explore how Orleans models application behavior with grains and how those grains run inside silos and clusters. Next, you’ll discover how to persist grain state, coordinate workflows across grains, manage lifecycle and concurrency behavior, and use Orleans transactions when stronger consistency is needed. Finally, you’ll learn how to use timers, reminders, observers, streams, testing, monitoring, and production-oriented configuration while integrating Orleans with an ASP.NET Core application. When you’re finished with this course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge of Microsoft Orleans needed to design, build, test, observe, and run scalable distributed .NET applications without reimplementing the distributed plumbing yourself.
