The Forecast: Cloud Sovereignty Rising: Why Europe’s Moving Away from AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
Master Europe’s rising cloud-sovereignty demands—GDPR mandates, data-residency rules, and Gaia-X federation principles. This course will teach you to design GDPR-native, multi-cloud/hybrid architectures and hands-on POC roadmaps.
What you'll learn
Europe’s cloud strategies are being upended by GDPR mandates, national data-residency laws, and the emergent Gaia-X federation vision—and architects need a clear playbook to stay compliant and competitive. In this episode, Cloud Sovereignty Rising: Why Europe’s Moving Away from AWS, Azure & GCP, you’ll learn to design GDPR-native, multi-cloud/hybrid architectures and proof-of-concept roadmaps that meet Europe’s sovereignty requirements. First, you’ll explore how to identify and adapt to high-level drivers like GDPR, Schrems II data-transfer rules, and Gaia-X federation principles. Next, you’ll discover how to evaluate and integrate global hyperscalers alongside EU providers—OVHcloud, Hetzner, Scaleway, Open Telekom Cloud—using clear matrices for compute, compliance, and IaC toolchain fit. Finally, you’ll learn how to plan and execute a hands-on POC deployment with region-locked storage, customer-managed keys, and secure data flows between EU environments and U.S. clouds. When you’re finished with this episode, you’ll have the skills and knowledge of cloud sovereignty needed to architect data-sovereign solutions and implement actionable deployment plans.
