The core of Cloud+ is configuration and deployment. In this course, Configuration and Deployment for the Cloud, you will learn the basics of a virtualization/cloud solutions initial deployment. First, you will learn about system and plan requirements to develop and execute testing of a plan and assess virtual network elements, along their required use in a scenario. Next, you'll gain knowledge of CPU and memory sizing along with storage technologies and assessment. Finally, you'll learn about workload and service infrastructure migration. When you're finished with this course, you will have the skills and knowledge of Cloud+ needed for configuration and deployment.

Course Overview
Welcome to Pluralsight. My name is Sean Wilkins and I am a network engineer, author, and technical editor at infoDispersion. I am excited to welcome you to my course Configuration and Deployment for the Cloud. This course is one of many courses that are being introduced into the Pluralsight library to cover Cloud topics. This course specifically focuses on configuration and deployment topics. In executing a deployment plan, we look at the elements that go into a deployment plan and the process that is used to create a solution. In virtualization and cloud architectures, we discuss the different cloud and virtualization technologies that are available. In CPU and memory sizing analysis, we discuss the different technologies and features involved to ensure proper solution sizing. In determining the best storage solution, we will go over each of the different virtualization and cloud storage options and how they are implemented. In analyzing virtual networking requirements, we review a number of networking concepts and technologies that are often utilized. In testing plan requirements, execution and analysis, we discuss how testing plans are performed and used in these environments. In analyzing the workload for successful migration, we review the different migration options and technologies. And finally in extending the infrastructure into the cloud, we take a look at some of the different solutions that need to be extended when moving to a virtualization or cloud solution. By the end of this course you'll have a good base of knowledge to successfully configure and deploy cloud and virtualization based solutions. Virtualization and Cloud Architectures
Hello everyone and welcome to Configuration and Deployment for the Cloud. My name is Sean Wilkins and this is the Virtualization and Cloud Architectures module. In this module we are going to be covering a number of different things, with the focus being on virtualization and the cloud. This module begins with a brief discussion on system design, including the basic steps that are typically taken when putting together a solution. We then move on to talk about what virtualization is before talking about the different virtualization basics that are important to understand when putting a solution together. We will then talk about the different characteristics that make a cloud solution unique. We then move on with three different sections on the different common cloud deployment and service models, as well as the different actors that typically exist when deploying a cloud solution. It then moves on to talk about the different components of a cloud solution and finishes up with a short section on noting some important points on solution assessment. So now with all of this out of the way, let's get started.

Hello everyone and welcome to Configuration and Deployment for the Cloud. My name is Sean Wilkins and this is the CPU and Memory Sizing Analysis module. In this module we take a look at assessing processing and memory resources. It will begin with a section on virtualization CPU compute resource concepts, focusing on how resources are related and assessed when implementing a virtualization solution. It then moves to a similar discussion, but focuses on the memory compute resources. It will then finish up with a section on how these different virtualization CPU and memory resources relate to the cloud. So now with all this out of the way, let's get started.

Determining the Best Storage Solution
Hello everyone and welcome to Configuration and Deployment for the Cloud. My name is Sean Wilkins, and this is the Determining the Best Storage Solutions module. In this module we will take a look at a number of the different storage concepts and technologies. We begin with a section on storage measurement, specifically covering common measurement methods and the different technologies that offer differing levels of service. We the move on and talk about the different storage interface types and protocols before moving on to talk about the different storage solution types, including directly attached storage, network attached storage, and storage area networks. We then move on and talk about storage tiering, including a discussion on the different common tiers that are designed into storage solutions. We then have two sections on redundancy. The first discusses both RAID concepts and failover, while the second discusses a variety of different replication concepts and methods. We then finish up with three short sections on data reduction technologies, storage over commitment and provision models, and storage security concepts. So now with all this out of the way, let's get started.

Analyzing Virtual Networking Requirements
Hello everyone and welcome to Configuration and Deployment for the Cloud. My name is Sean Wilkins and this is the Analyzing Virtual Networking Requirements module. In this module we take a look at several of the components and services that make up the network that connects together the various virtualization and/or cloud elements. We start with a section on the different networking types and devices, then move on and talk about the OSI and TCP/IP networking models that are commonly used to link together the different functional layers of networking communications. We then talk about a number of different methods that are used to connect together the different types of networking device. The next section we'll then talk about a number of different networking protocols, as well as a short discussion on quality of service, or QoS. We then finish up with a section on networking documentation and how it fits in with change management. So now with all of this out of the way, let's get started.

Testing Plan Requirements, Execution and Analysis
Hello everyone and welcome to Configuration and Deployment for the Cloud. My name is Sean Wilkins and this is the Testing Plan Requirements, Execution, and Analysis module. In this module we take a look at the planning, development, and execution of a testing plan. We begin by looking at the different components that are typically tested. Then we move on and cover the different common testing environments that are used when deploying a solution. We then talk about the different testing techniques that are commonly used. Next we have a more detailed discussion on performance testing and how it is used before covering the importance of properly sizing a solution and ensuring its availability. We then finish up with three sections on the different specific types of testing, including replication, application delivery, and automation and orchestration. So now with all of this out of the way, let's get started.

Analyzing the Workload for Successful Migration
Hello everyone and welcome to Configuration and Deployment for the Cloud. My name is Sean Wilkins and this is the Analyzing the Workload for Successful Migration module. In this module we will take a look at solution migrations and cover some of the different factors that are involved. To do this, we will first cover the different processes and procedures that are involved with a migration. We will then move on and cover the different types of migration. We will then go on and cover the various workload formats that will often be encountered before finishing up with a final section on some of the environmental migration considerations. So now with all of this out of the way, let's get started.

Extending the Infrastructure into the Cloud
Hello everyone and welcome to Configuration and Deployment for the Cloud. My name is Sean Wilkins and this is the Extending the Infrastructure into the Cloud module. In this module we take a look at the services and solutions that are often extended when implemented a cloud solution. We will start with a section covering identity management solutions. These solutions, when implemented, allow common credentials to be used across multiple systems, including being extendable into the cloud. We will the move on to cover some of the details of the common services that must be altered when moving to a cloud implementation. So now with all this out of the way, let's get started.
