Huge amounts of RAM and CPU won't do us much good if there's no Storage to hold our data, or Networking to access our data stores. In this course, we will harness the power of Open Source to create efficient solutions to enterprise storage problems.
Samba isn't just a genre, it's a versatile piece of software. In this course, Configuring Network Storage Solutions with RHEL, you will learn that iSCSI isn't another family of products made and marketed by Apple, it's an extremely useful technology that presents the power of a robust SAN without the exorbitant costs. First, you will be working through a series of real-world scenarios and explore how to do data replication with GlusterFS. Next, you will expand on how to administer a storage area network. Finally, you will explore how to share files heterogeneously with the SMB protocol. By the end of this course, you will be able to create a robust and practical storage solutions that are efficient and cost effective.
I'm a Linux aficionado. I deploy it to clients looking to build new solutions or migrate existing services. I teach it to students about to enter the job market, and I recommend it to anyone looking to get their start in IT.
Course Overview Hello everyone. My name is Agaba Philip, and I'd like to welcome you to my course, Configuring Network Storage Solutions using Red Hat Enterprise Linux. I'm a data systems administrator here in Lagos, Nigeria, and I've been using Enterprise Linux for about 10 years now. If you're responsible for the administration of Linux service and production, it won't be long before you have the need to overcome the limitations of storage on a single computer. In this course, I'm going to show you how to solve the organization's storage problems big or small without blowing your budget on expensive third-party solutions. This course is extremely practice oriented. It's completely imbued with exercises and challenges for you to solve. And even though we're going to be using a fictitious company in our scenarios, the problems we are going to be solving are extremely real world. Some of the major topics that we will cover include data replication with GlusterFS, administrating a storage area network, and sharing files heterogeneously with the SMB protocol. By the end of this course, you'll be able to create robust and practical storage solutions that are efficient and cost effective. Before taking this course, you have to be comfortable working inside the Linux terminal. It also helps if you have some Linux administration experience. I hope you will join me on this adventure as I go about configuring network storage solutions on Red Hat Enterprise Linux right here on Pluralsight.
