This course will teach you how to enhance existing location enabled Android apps with Kotlin. You will learn how to style and add drawings to Google Maps, tie in relevant Google Maps Platform APIs, and build GPS recording capabilities.

Going beyond basic location integration such as a Google Map view is a great way to enhance your Android app. In this course, Customizing Android Location-aware Apps, you’ll learn to improve your user’s experience with location-aware functionality. First, you’ll explore the different options available to style your map including adding a dark theme. You'll also enable users to filter location data by drawing regions of interest on the map. Next, you'll leverage Google Street View to create a more immersive experience. You’ll also discover how to add additional data about locations to your app using the Google Maps Platform Places API. Finally, you’ll learn how to allow users to record their GPS tracks including their route, distance, and duration. When you’re finished with this course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge of Android development using Kotlin needed to build advanced location-aware features.
