Course Overview
Hi everyone, my name is Tim Boles, and welcome to my course, Defining New Data Structures Using Quick SQL, a feature of Oracle Application Express. I'm a senior manager at Hitachi Vantara, and I've been working with Oracle technologies for nearly 25 years. I've also been a presenter several times on Oracle topics at national conferences. Have you ever wanted to create a database using simple and easy‑to‑understand statements? Have you ever wanted to create a new web application in just a few minutes without writing any code? If you've answered yes to either of these questions, then this course is for you. In fact, if you follow along with the demonstrations in this course, you will have created a fully functional database backed web application with nearly zero code. In this course, we're going to show you how to gain free access to Oracle Application Express. If you follow along, you'll gain practical knowledge on using this simple and easy‑to‑understand Quick SQL language to create a database with sample data loaded into the tables. You'll gain experience creating a fully functional web application based on the database you created. By the end of this course, you'll have a firm understanding of how to use Oracle Application Express to build a web application that can be used to track company project purchase orders. From here, you should feel comfortable diving into APEX and Oracle cloud services with courses on Oracle Autonomous Transaction Processing, Oracle Compute Cloud Service, and Building APEX Applications. I hope you'll join me on this journey to learn how to add database structures using Quick SQL and to build applications using Oracle Application Express.
