Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900): Describe Core Data Concepts
Are you pursuing certification for Azure Data Fundamentals or looking to check the prerequisite box for more advanced data certifications? If so, it’s game on! This course covers core data concepts and how they’re implemented in Azure data services.
What you'll learn
If you are new to data or have spent your career using on-premises data services, the world of cloud data can be simultaneously overwhelming and exciting. This course is the first of four courses covering the four top-line objectives described in the Microsoft Study Guide for the DP-900 exam. In this course, Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900): Describe Core Data Concepts, you'll gain a solid foundation of concepts and vocabulary around cloud data assets and processes. First, you’ll explore ways to represent data and understand the roles and responsibilities for data workloads that you and your teammates may fill; sometimes, it’s more than one! Next, you’ll discover the options for data storage formats and types of databases that store data—particularly in Azure. Finally, you’ll learn how to identify the different types of workloads and how they might apply to both existing and future data needs. When you’re finished with this course, you’ll have the knowledge of foundational data options and services in Azure needed to continue your DP-900 exam preparation journey.

About the author
Howdy fellow student of life! Thanks for your interest in learning more about what makes me tick. Throughout my tech career, I found that I had the most fun and the greatest satisfaction when I was helping others learn about and embrace software and related technologies. So, when I was honored to be offered a staff position as a training architect -- I realized a dream to combine my passion for technology and my passion for teaching others. I hope that the material I provide plays some small part in helping you pursue your passions, too. A leader of people, a shepherd of data -- and a follower of both -- I have more than 30 years in the tech industry, much of it focused on Microsoft stack services and databases, for both on-prem and cloud implementations. I cut my cloud teeth while reducing a patent to practice; we implemented a card game paradigm in a WCF service on Azure. It was late in 2012, when interacting with Azure involved a lot of co-mentoring with erstwhile Microsoft folks. I've had my head in the cloud(s) ever since!
