Course Overview
Hi, my name is Pariah Burke. Welcome to InDesign CC 2017 Updates. I'm one of the world's most prolific InDesign trainers, consultants, and authors with hundreds of successful training classes for some of the best-known brands, 8 books, more than a dozen video courses, and more than 450 published articles in the industry's leading magazines and websites. InDesign CC 2017 brings several exciting new features and refinements. Most of the changes are in direct response to what users like you and me have asked for, even plead for. Adobe really does listen; the proof is InDesign CC 2017. In this brief what's-new style course, I'll show you all the new features and refinements, big and small, moving from the top down and starting with several interesting changes at the top of InDesign in its control panel and above and just below the control panel. Once you know what's new up top, you'll learn about all the thrilling new contextual OpenType properties features that are literally within your reach at all times to help you use your OpenType fonts to their fullest potential for the best typography you can create. Adobe granted your wishes with footnotes that finally span columns, avoiding that awkward side-by-side footnote aligning you've long had to suffer with in multicolumn layouts. You'll learn how to use the new footnote behavior to set document-wide and per text frame footnote column spanning options. Arrowheads, too, have only been sort of useful in InDesign. The Illustrator Two-Step is finished, my friend. InDesign now offers independent arrowhead scaling and positioning, and it puts those controls everywhere they should be. You'll wrap up the tour of InDesign CC 2017 Updates by seeing all of the smaller subtler changes InDesign CC 2017 brings to places like the Hyperlinks panel and the CC Libraries panel, the View and Windows menus, and elsewhere. Before beginning this course, you should already be comfortable working in Adobe InDesign CC. The changes in Adobe InDesign CC 2017 are exciting and useful with something new and something refined for every InDesign user. I'm going to show you all of them.
