What you'll learn
When every release is planned from scratch, users are surprised by changes they never asked for, release dates slip, and the same avoidable errors reappear in the next release. In this course, ITIL® 4 Specialist PIC: Release Management (RM), you'll gain the ability to make new and changed services and features available for use in a way that is repeatable, coordinated, and valuable to the organization. First, you'll explore the key concepts of the practice, including releases, release models, push and pull conditions, and continuous integration, delivery, and deployment. Next, you'll discover the practice's two processes: Release model development and improvement, and release planning and coordination, and how release management is integrated into service value streams. Finally, you'll learn how to staff the practice, apply automation tools, work with partners and suppliers, and use the ITIL capability model, recommendations, and key metrics to develop and measure the practice. When you're finished with this course, you'll have the skills and knowledge of release management needed to deliver new and changed services to users reliably, without turning release into a bottleneck.
