What you'll learn

In the previous course in this path, Introduction to Leadership for Developers, you learned how to leverage your technical skills to build leadership skills - to understand the human operating system and how it relates to fundamental leadership principles. But those principles are just the foundation. In this course, Leadership Techniques for Developers, you’ll learn techniques that derive from those principles. First, you'll explore simple, pragmatic and effective techniques to communicate effectively, to get people to listen to you, to diffuse conflicts and to work within a group to solve problems. Then, you'll discover that compliments are not always compliments, questions are not always questions, and the best time to ask for help is often when you don’t need it. Finally, you'll learn how to be a leader not by memorizing rules, but by recognizing patterns that just make sense for certain situations, just like design patterns in software. By the end of this course, you'll know how to become a great leader in today's working environment.
