I'm a principal technical architect at the Dallas Microsoft Technology Center. When using the cloud, the normal monitoring methodologies and tools may not apply as the vendor has responsibility for various layers and different approaches are required. In this course, we're going to look at the key Azure monitoring services available including services for base service health, looking at custom applications, and how to gain deeper insight into deployed services. Monitoring Fundamentals Welcome to the Design a Monitoring Strategy for Infrastructure in Microsoft Azure course, and this first module, Monitoring Fundamentals. My name is John Savill. In this course, we're going to look at what are the various needs for monitoring and alerting and how they change when we leverage the cloud, how I can use Azure Monitor, monitoring workloads, my custom line of business applications with Application Insights, then bringing everything together and adding additional intelligence using Log Analytics. In this first module, we'll look at why monitoring is required, understanding monitoring responsibilities in the cloud, gathering information and understanding dependencies between different components of a solution, and then defining the various communication and alerting requirements.
Using Azure Monitor Welcome to the Using Azure Monitor module. In this module, we're going to dive into, well, what is Azure Monitor, understanding metrics and activity logs, defining action groups, how I can create alerts, and then customizing and sharing service health dashboards.
Monitoring Workloads with Application Insights This module focuses on monitoring workloads with Application Insights. Specifically, we're going to look at, well, what exactly is Application Insights, enabling Application Insights for our custom line of business applications, and then monitoring workloads with Application Insights.
Using Log Analytics Welcome to the Log Analytics module. In this module, we're going to look at exactly what is Log Analytics, how we can query the Log Analytics data, using various management solutions that build on top of the data with various queries and visualizations, utilizing Network Performance Monitor, Azure Network Watcher and Traffic Analytics to get great insight into our networking performance and configuration, then how we can visualize data with Power BI.
