What you'll learn
As organizations move OpenShift into production, platform teams are exposed to risks they rarely plan for: no tested recovery procedure when a namespace is lost, cluster configurations that diverge silently from their intended state, and performance bottlenecks that only become visible after end users report them. In this course, OpenShift Advanced Operations and Automation, you’ll gain the ability to operate OpenShift clusters with the reliability and control that production environments demand. First, you’ll explore how to install and configure the OpenShift APIs for Data Protection (OADP) to back up application manifests and persistent volume data, schedule automated backups, and execute validated restore operations. Next, you’ll discover how to implement declarative GitOps workflows using the OpenShift GitOps Operator (Argo CD) to eliminate configuration drift and manage cluster state entirely from a Git repository. Finally, you’ll learn how to proactively monitor cluster health using OpenShift’s built-in observability stack — writing PromQL queries, interpreting performance signals, configuring custom alerting rules, and using scheduling constraints to keep workloads stable before problems reach production. When you’re finished with this course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge of advanced OpenShift operations needed to run a resilient, auditable, and observable platform at enterprise scale.
