Course Overview
Hi everyone. My name is Jason Olson, and welcome to my course Python: The Big Picture. I am currently a senior software engineer at Concur Technologies where I build and maintain distributed systems everyday with a focus on high availability and the alt-tolerance. Python is a storied programming language that continues to grow in popularity. It's been used everywhere from web development to data science and even for special effects in movies. Python's a very powerful programming language that is well-suited for many different types of tasks. This course is a quick introduction to Python and no prior experience with Python is expected nor required. Some of the major topics that we will cover include: What Python is; What makes Python different from other programming languages; Why developers should care about Python; Seeing Python in action using different technologies; and Tools you will need to know to develop using Python. By the end of this course, you will have the necessary knowledge to start experimenting with Python and to dive deeper into the areas where Python is being used. I hope you'll join me on this journey to learn more about Python with this Python: The Big Picture course, here at Pluralsight.
