Description

This is the second course of seven. In this course, SCCM Current Branch: Install, Configure, and Maintain a Primary Site, you will walk through the design, installation, and initial configuration of a System Center Configuration Manager Current Branch primary site. First, you will walk through some of the design considerations you should know before you ever start inserting DVD ISOs into disk drives. Next, you will step through the installation of your first primary site server, including the broad array of sometimes-confusing initial configurations that every site server requires during it's next, next, finish the installation. Then, you will explore how to configure support for clients and devices, as well as prepare for content and OS distribution. Finally, you will get to know administrator permissions delegation so that you can protect your assets from the wrong administrators doing potentially hazardous things. By the end of this course, you'll understand the everyday care and feeding of a primary site in production, maintaining and protecting that site as it services its clients.

Course Overview
Hey, this is Greg Shields, and you found the second course in my learning path on the configuration and everyday use of System Center Configuration Manager current branch and Microsoft Intune. I am author evangelist and a full-time author here at Pluralsight, and I've been building, managing, and helping others with SCCM since it's earliest days as SMS version 1. 2. You can't start with SCCM without, well, starting with SCCM. Those initial conversations center around the design and installation tasks and getting Configuration Manager installed onto your server hardware. All these courses focus their attentions mainly on the single-site use case. We'll spend some time here discussing when and why you might expand past that single-site configuration. In this second course out of seven, we'll walk through some of the design considerations you should know before you ever start inserting DVD ISOs into disk drives. We'll step through the installation of your first primary site server, including the broad array of sometimes confusing, initial configurations that every site server requires during it's Next, Next, Finish installation. We'll configure support for clients and devices, as well as prepare for content and OS distribution. We'll get to know administrator permissions delegation so that you can protect your assets from the wrong admins doing potentially hazardous things, and you'll get to know the everyday care in feeding of a primary site in production, maintaining and protecting that site as it services its clients. If you've just been tasked with building a new Configuration Manager environment, this course is your next stop in brushing up on those skills for success. And then from here, you'll be ready to continue on the learning path as we deploy clients and manage inventory, deploy and manage applications, deploy and maintain operating systems, support internet-based clients and on-premises MDM, and support Intune, hybrid MDM, and co-management. Let's get started.
