This course is intended to deliver a SharePoint Search education for beginning and intermediate SharePoint Administrator. Targeted at SharePoint 2013 Farm Administrators and Site Collection Administrators, this course will help users who are attempting to provision, configure, manage and customize the SharePoint 2013 Search Service Application and Search Center. This course provides sufficient detail for the student to follow the demonstrations to complete a Search configuration and resolve issues with tested troubleshooting techniques.

SharePoint 2013 Search Overview
Hi. This is Matt McDermott, and this is SharePoint 2013 Search Back to Front. This module is an overview of SharePoint 2013 Search. In this course we're going to review SharePoint 2013 Search. That's this module. Then we're going to talk about configuration or setting up your Search Service Application and some of the tips and tricks that you can use to get rolling with SharePoint 2013 Search. In the Advanced Configuration module we'll look at other kinds of content sources that you can connect to and additional tips for keeping your Search Service Application working smoothly. In the Results Presentation module we'll look at what's new in SharePoint 2013 for how to present results and how to work with this new concept of display templates. In the Troubleshooting module we'll look at what can go wrong. We'll look at several different scenarios for how to troubleshoot SharePoint 2013 and what you can do as a Search service administrator to make sure that your farm is running the way you want. In this module we'll do an overview of SharePoint 2013 Search. We'll talk about the requirements for a Search project and how you can cycle through the requirements and continuously improve the environment for your end users. We'll discuss some new Search concepts, the SharePoint 2013 Search Architecture and considerations for planning your first deployment or an iteration of your next deployment.

SharePoint 2013 Search Configuration
This is Matt McDermott. This course is SharePoint 2013 Search Back to Front. This module is SharePoint 2013 Search Configuration. In this module we're going to start out by talking about how you manage the topology. What options do you have available to you as a Search service administrator, as a farm administrator to provision a new SharePoint Search Service Application? Once you understand what your options are, then we'll talk about how to use those options for provisioning and initial configuration. We'll talk about content sources. How do you create the connections to the content that you want to crawl so that you can provide that information to your end users through the Search center. We'll talk about some of the configuration decisions and practices that you can use to approach Search Service solutions. And finally we'll talk about the special case of People Search Configuration in SharePoint Search.

SharePoint 2013 Advanced Search Configuration
Hi. This is Matt McDermott. In this module of SharePoint 2013 Search Back to Front we're going to be talking about SharePoint 2013 Search in Advanced Configurations. Primarily we're going to be talking about things like the BCS and other content sources like file shares. We'll be talking about managed metadata and its impact on Search and how some of the automated procedures inside of SharePoint actually help you with managed metadata and the Search process. We'll also look at authentication, alternate forms of authentication, and anonymous crawls. We'll also look at Alternate Access Mapping and its significant impact on Search. We'll also look at Server Name Mapping and some other tricks. Finally, we'll look at Search Administration with PowerShell and briefly cover some of the concepts for that.

SharePoint Search Results Presentation
This is SharePoint 2013 Back to Front. In this module we'll review Search Results Presentation. When you're working with SharePoint 2013 search results, there are a number of different components of the Search system that come into play. In this module we're going to review result sources and how result sources have effectively replaced scopes in SharePoint Search. We'll also talk about how we create managed properties. We're going to demonstrate query rules and how effective they are at presenting content for your users to help them search more effectively. We'll also demonstrate display templates. This is the search UI that you're looking for. This is how the results look in the Search Center and in other areas of Search that leverage display templates. We'll also review result types and how they're connected to display templates, and we'll review refiners as well.

SharePoint 2013 Search Troubleshooting
This is SharePoint 2013 Search Back to Front, Troubleshooting SharePoint 2013 Search. In this module we're going to review general service application troubleshooting techniques like using the ULS log viewer. We're also going to learn how to troubleshoot the crawl, troubleshoot display templates, do a little bit of monitoring, and then performance and throttling.
