Course Overview Hello everyone. My name is Doru Katana, and welcome to my course, Succeeding with Virtual Meetings. After running a marketing agency for close to 15 years now and having literally hundreds of clients, and spending probably close to 10,000 hours in meetings and calls, I have to admit that meetings are the most inefficient form of communication, I know, but at the same time, there is no other channel that offers the same level of depth of understanding and clarity when it comes to sharing viewpoints and emotions. And this is the reason for creating this course, to help you minimize the immense cost meetings have on your organization, to remove the guesswork and alleviate the headaches of ineffective procedures, and all this while maximizing your team's involvement, your meetings' results, also the sense of accomplishment you get after you've led an effective meeting. We first go over some meeting fundamentals and look at the core differences between traditional and virtual, and then we proceed with the main focus of the course, meetings. And we approach them based on the three pillars: purpose, format, and people, and for each one, we look at the underlying principles, how those principles play out in real work scenarios, and go over a wide range of frameworks, best practices, and tools that will allow you to successfully take action on what you learned. And we even go further than that and end the course with a 20‑item checklist to help you solidify what you've learned and also have at your disposal for future use. So my personal promise to you is that by the end of this course you will no longer struggle with boring conference calls, lack of participation from your team, meetings side railing and not reaching your desired objectives. And I wish mastering this new skill will allow you to become a driving force in your organization, in your industry, and in your own life. So I hope you'll join me on this journey of succeeding with virtual meetings here on Pluralsight.
