What you'll learn

Linux underpins the majority of servers, cloud platforms, and DevOps toolchains in use today, yet many practitioners enter the field without a confident grounding in the fundamentals. Without these skills, even basic tasks, finding a file, reading a log, or interpreting system state, can become barriers. In this course, Ubuntu Linux Foundations, you'll gain the ability to work confidently at the Ubuntu command line and understand what is happening beneath the surface. First, you'll explore how the Linux Filesystem Hierarchy Standard organizes the system and how to navigate it efficiently using the shell. Next, you'll discover how to create, view, edit, and manage files and directories using core command-line tools. Finally, you'll learn how the Ubuntu boot process works, from BIOS and GRUB through to systemd, and how to interrogate a running system for processes and resource usage. When you're finished with this course, you'll have the skills and knowledge of Ubuntu Linux foundations needed to operate confidently at the command line and support Linux systems in real-world environments.
