Course Overview
Hi everyone. I'm Rich Fiore. Welcome to my course, Unity AR: Ground Plane Tools. I'm a producer at Digital Frosting, working both augmented and virtual reality, and previous to that I was a college instructor for visual effects filming game design. Now augmented reality has exploded over the past few years. As our mobile devices have gotten faster, we can create more complex AR scenes. And as the complexity of our apps expands, so does the possibility of changes mid-development from our clients, us, or just the scope of the project. Now change is good, but mid-development, it's a nightmare. In this course, we're going to take that inevitable change into account by developing an app that's expandable, adjustable, and ultimately customizable to you or your client's needs. Some of the major topics that we'll cover include, using the Vuforia Ground Plane tools within Unity to lock your AR creation firmly into the ground, creating an expandable catalog system where you can pick from a list of your AR objects or AR scenes, and using Unity's Scriptable Objects to import and expand our catalog objects so your AR catalog system is reusable and not hard coded with content. By the end of this course, you'll know how to create an expandable digital catalog system that launches customized AR scenes. Now before beginning this course, you should be familiar with the Unity game engine and have some basic understanding of the Vuforia AR toolset.
