  1. Challenge

Prepare a Date Table for Time-Based Analysis

In this first challenge of a series, you’ll inspect the preloaded sales model and create the date table that the rest of the lab depends on. Time intelligence in DAX requires a dedicated date table, and this model does not have one yet.

  2. Challenge

Write Measures that Compare Performance Across Time Periods

With the date table in place, you’ll write the core time-intelligence measures an executive trend report needs: year-to-date, quarter-to-date, same period last year, and a custom-interval shift.

  3. Challenge

    Calculate Rolling and Variance Metrics

YTD and prior-year values are useful, but executives also want a smoothed trend and a clear view of whether performance is up or down. In this challenge you’ll build a rolling 12-month average and variance measures, including safe handling of blanks and divide-by-zero.

  4. Challenge

Present Trends in a Report Visual

You’ll turn the measures into an executive-friendly trend view: a combo visual of current vs. prior period, plus a slicer that changes the reporting period so the measures respond.

  5. Challenge

    The Last Challenge

Welcome to the final challenge! This is your last chance to experiment in the environment. Clicking Finish Lab will end this little world that flittered into existence just for you.
