Automate Nightly EC2 Shutdown with EventBridge Scheduler
In this hands-on lab, you'll automate the nightly shutdown of Amazon EC2 instances using Amazon EventBridge Scheduler. You'll create an IAM role, and build a recurring schedule that triggers the automation each night. By completing this lab, you'll strengthen your ability to design secure, cost-optimized, and automated operational controls within AWS environments while reducing unnecessary EC2 runtime costs.

Navigate to the EventBridge service and create a schedule to shut down the EC2 instance every night using EventBridge Scheduler.

Create IAM role for EventBridge service
During the creation of the EventBridge schedule, create an IAM role that grants the EventBridge service full access to the EC2 service for shutting down the EC2 instance.

Once the schedule has been created, verify that the EC2 instance was shut down.
