  1. Challenge

Configure and validate the remote administration environment for a secure network

Before using traditional Windows PowerShell remoting you might need to set it up or validate it. Traditional remoting utilizes the WSMan protocol and assumes a domain environment. You need to understand how to test and troubleshoot your PowerShell remoting environment.

  2. Challenge

Execute distributed maintenance tasks using one-to-one and one-to-many remoting

While it isn't that difficult to use a remote desktop connection (RDP) to manage a Windows server remotely, this should be the exception rather than the rule. If PowerShell is going to be your primary management interface, you need to take advantage of its features and tools. You need to understand the tools and techniques for managing one or more servers remotely with PowerShell remoting.

  3. Challenge

Manage persistent administrative sessions for efficient long-term automation

The benefit of using PowerShell for remote administration is that is you can accomplish a management task using PowerShell and command-line tools for one machine, you can just as easily do it for 10 or 100.

  4. Challenge

    Using remoting with PowerShell 7

Remoting with PowerShell 7 is very similar to using it in Windows PowerShell. However, there are a few subtle distinctions that you need to be aware of.
