Build a Target List with Enumeration
In this lab, you'll practice offensive security techniques in a capture-the-flag style exercise, using privilege escalation, network pivoting, and lateral movement to advance from an initial foothold to a high-value target on a segmented internal network. When you're finished, you'll be able to escalate a low-privilege shell to root, pivot through a compromised host to reach an otherwise unreachable subnet, and capture flags at each stage of the engagement.

Challenge
Escalate a low-privilege shell to root by exploiting misconfigured host permissions
Enumerate a Linux host for privilege escalation opportunities, identify a binary that can be abused to break out to a root shell, and use the resulting access to harvest credentials left on the system for the next stage of the engagement.

Challenge
Pivot through the beachhead to reach an internal-only subnet and move laterally to the target host using harvested credentials
Use Metasploit's autoroute and a SOCKS proxy to route proxychains-wrapped tools through the compromised beachhead into an isolated subnet, then use harvested credentials to authenticate to the target and retrieve proof of compromise.
