Configure Core DLP Components
In this lab, you will configure a Data Loss Prevention (DLP) environment by connecting data sources, enabling built-in and custom classifiers, setting up monitoring policies, and validating data flow. You will establish baseline DLP monitoring for email, endpoints, and cloud storage using an open-source DLP simulation framework. After completing this lab, you will be able to: - Connect the DLP systems to email, endpoint, and cloud data sources - Enable built-in classifiers to detect sensitive data such as PII, PCI, and PHI - Create custom dictionaries and keyword-based classifiers - Configure monitoring-mode policies for baseline visibility - Validate that cloud and endpoint signals flow into DLP dashboards

Challenge
Connect the DLP System to Email, Endpoint, and Cloud Data Sources
You will verify the DLP framework deployment, configure connectors for Exchange Online email monitoring, set up endpoint agents for Windows workstation file operations, and establish cloud connectors for OneDrive and SharePoint. By the end of this objective, you will have a functioning DLP infrastructure with visibility across all three primary data channels.
-
Challenge
Configure Data Classification with Built-in and Custom Classifiers
You will enable pre-built classifiers for PII, PCI, and PHI data types, examine the pattern definitions that power these classifiers, create custom keyword dictionaries for internal confidential terms, and test classifier accuracy against sample data. By the end of this objective, you will have a comprehensive classification scheme covering both regulatory and organizational sensitive data.

Challenge
Set Up Monitoring Policies and Validate Data Flow to Dashboards
You will create monitoring-only policies that log sensitive data detections without blocking, configure alert thresholds, generate test activities across email, endpoint, and cloud channels, and verify that all detection events appear in the DLP monitoring dashboard. By the end of this objective, you will have a fully operational DLP system with baseline monitoring in place.

This is your last chance to experiment in the environment. Clicking End Lab will end this little world that flittered into existence just for you.
About the author
Real skill practice before real-world application
Hands-on Labs are real environments created by industry experts to help you learn. These environments help you gain knowledge and experience, practice without compromising your system, test without risk, destroy without fear, and let you learn from your mistakes. Hands-on Labs: practice your skills before delivering in the real world.
Learn by doing
Engage hands-on with the tools and technologies you’re learning. You pick the skill, we provide the credentials and environment.
Follow your guide
All labs have detailed instructions and objectives, guiding you through the learning process and ensuring you understand every step.
Turn time into mastery
On average, you retain 75% more of your learning if you take time to practice. Hands-on labs set you up for success to make those skills stick.
