Getting Started in the Lab Environment

Here are the initial instructions and explanation of the lab environment. Read this while your environment is busy creating itself from nothing. Yes, this violates physics; we know. How fun!

  2. Challenge

Monitor Workloads with Prometheus and Grafana

You will configure Prometheus to scrape metrics from your server, and you will create a Grafana dashboard to visualize CPU and memory usage. You will also configure an alert rule in Prometheus for high CPU usage.

  3. Challenge

Implement Logging Using the ELK Stack

Using Logstash, you will index web server logs to Elasticsearch, and create a Kibana dashboard to visualize the log data.

  4. Challenge

Set up Monitoring and Logging for Jenkins

You will expose Jenkins metrics and logs and then use Grafana and Kibana to visualize the CD/CI data. You will also configure Prometheus alerts to trigger when a pipeline fails.

  5. Challenge

Integrate Monitoring and Logging into DevOps Pipelines

To ensure all the applications within your systems have enough data for you to identify issues in a timely manner and be able to troubleshoot them, you will integrate monitoring and logging as part of your CI/CD pipelines.

    The Last Challenge

Welcome to the final challenge! This is your last chance to experiment in the environment. Clicking Finish Lab will end this little world that flittered into existence just for you.
