Group Policy with Windows Server Challenge
In this lab, you will configure and manage centralized Group Policy settings in Active Directory to secure and standardize administrative environments across domain-joined systems. Using the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC), you will deploy functional and security-focused Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to a targeted Organizational Unit (OU) that contains administrative accounts. These policies will enforce desktop customization restrictions, automate a persistent network drive mapping, and block access to Registry Editor tools. Finally, you will validate policy deployment by forcing policy refreshes, generating policy application reports, and analyzing effective settings using the Resultant Set of Policy (RSoP) tool. > **Note:** For simplicity, these configurations are performed directly on the Domain Controller in this lab. In a production environment, administrators would typically perform these tasks from a domain-joined administrative workstation with Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) installed.

Challenge
Verify initial environment state
To start, you will connect to the globomantics.co Domain Controller, validate the environment, and confirm that desktop personalization settings and Registry Editor tools are currently unrestricted. As part of this baseline assessment, you will also verify access to the target shared folder, which will later be mapped as a network drive through Group Policy.
-
Challenge
Deploy environment GPOs and restriction GPOs
In this objective, you will create and link two new GPOs to the PS_OU Organizational Unit to enforce desktop environment standards, implement a persistent network drive mapping, and prevent access to Registry Editor tools.

Challenge
Validate Group Policy deployment
To validate Group Policy deployment, you will force a policy refresh and verify that all configurations are active. You will then review the applied settings and analyze the effective results on the system. Finally, you will confirm that desktop customizations, network drive mappings, and registry restrictions are successfully enforced.
