    Inspect the kernel arguments and boot configurations of both servers for potential issues, repair any problems, and regenerate the bootloader configuration.

    Do not reboot the servers!

    Identify storage devices and check the integrity of the provided filesystems.

    Audit and Create Users, Groups, and Environments

    Create an administrative and standard user group, then create a new user with a custom shell and assign to both groups; ensure the user has superuser privileges. Then, prepare both global and user-specified environmental variables that will persist across sessions, and configure password expiration/complexity rules.

  4. Challenge

    Manage Packages, Services, and Running Processes

    Ensure packages are up-to-date on both servers; install and start needed services; and review processes, adjust process priority of a service, and kill off taxing processes.
