Installing Helm

In this hands-on lab, we will install Helm and configure the standard repository. Once that is complete, we will release a chart to ensure everything is working properly. After the release is verified, we will use Helm to clean up our cluster and remove the resources we created.

  1. Challenge

    Install and Configure Helm

    On the Kubnernetes primary server, download and install Helm from its packaged binary.

    Once Helm is installed, add the bitnami repo using helm repo add bitnami https://charts.bitnami.com/bitnami and install bitnami/wordpress using helm install test bitnami/wordpress.

  2. Challenge

    Create a Helm Release

    Ensure Helm is working by creating a Helm release in the default namespace. The release should be named test and the WordPress should be the application that is released.

  3. Challenge

    Verify the Release and Clean Up

    Check the status of the release to ensure the release succeeded, then verify in kubectl that the resources were created.

    Once you are satisfied that resources were created, remove the resources from the cluster. Then, confirm there are no resources present in the default namespace.
