Manage Storage in Kubernetes for CKA

In this lab, you’ll practice with persisting the data your application generates using Persistent Volumes. You will learn how to dynamically provision storage using storage classes and backup and restore your data in case of any issues. When you’re finished, you’ll have the required skills and knowledge to manage persistent storage in your Kubernetes cluster.

Getting Started in the Lab Environment

Here are the initial instructions and explanation of the lab environment. Read this while your environment is busy creating itself from nothing. Yes, this violates physics; we know. How fun!

  2. Challenge

    Using Persistent Storage

In some uses cases, you may need to keep the data generated by your containers. In this challenge you will make use of Persistent Volumes to ensure the data is kept even after the container was stopped.

  3. Challenge

    Dynamically Provisioning Storage

When working with large infrastructures, the need of working with different types of storages arise. In this challenge you will use Storage Classes to dynamically provision volumes based on your application needs.

  4. Challenge

Backing Up and Restoring Persistent Data

In this challenge, you'll learn to back up and restore persistent data in Kubernetes. You'll create a VolumeSnapshot, store data in a Persistent Volume, delete the volume to simulate data loss, and restore the volume from the snapshot to ensure the data remains intact.

    The Last Challenge

Welcome to the final challenge! This is your last chance to experiment in the environment. Clicking Finish Lab will end this little world that flittered into existence just for you.
