Building an Azure ARM-Based Packer Image

Packer allows us to use JSON or HCL code to describe and generate machine images, such as Azure virtual hard disks and managed images. In this lab, we'll explore using Packer alongside Azure to create an image based on Ubuntu that hosts our website's landing page, as well as address any tips and tricks for provisioning Linux on Azure.

    1. Click the Cloud Shell icon (>_) in the upper right.
    2. Select Bash.
    3. Click No storage account required.
    4. Select the only available subscription and click Apply.
    5. In Cloud Shell, create a working directory and add the necessary lab files.

    Create a packer.json file, build the template, and install the Packer plugin.
