Create a Custom VPC in Google Cloud

In this lab, you'll replace a default Auto Mode network with a Custom Mode VPC, designing regional subnets with non-overlapping IP ranges the way you would in a real enterprise environment. You'll then lock down access with targeted firewall rules and confirm your network is working by testing connectivity between subnets using private IP addresses.

    B. Create an ICMP firewall rule scoped to RFC 1918 address space and the allow-icmp network tag.

    C. Confirm both rules are scoped to the custom VPC, not the default network.

  3. Challenge

    Validate cross-subnet connectivity

    A. Enable Private Google Access on both subnets.

    B. Deploy two VMs across subnets with no external IPs.

    C. SSH into vm-subnet-a via IAP tunnel.

    D. Ping vm-subnet-b using its internal IP to validate cross-subnet connectivity.
