Create and Connect to a Compute Engine VM

This Hands-On Lab focuses on you provisioning a Google Compute Engine VM in an established project, which automatically installs a Redis server workload. After the VM is created, it is accessed to confirm expected behavior. When validation reveals the service isn't responding as expected, you will investigate the cause and restore the VM to a working, validated state.

  1. Challenge

Provision a simple Compute Engine VM for a starter workload

Create a VM with the required project, region, zone, and machine configuration for the lab scenario. Verify that the instance reaches a running state in the intended location.

  2. Challenge

Connect to the VM and confirm expected behavior

Access the VM through the supported connection method for the lab environment. Confirm that the VM responds as expected to a basic validation task.

  3. Challenge

Restore access after a bounded compute or connectivity issue

Observe the symptoms of the introduced issue that prevents expected VM access or behavior. Identify and correct the cause so the VM can be reached and validated again.
