Select Gemini Models for Business Workloads
This hands-on lab guides you through comparing Gemini models against four business workloads with different cost, speed, capability, and input-size requirements. You will review model comparison evidence, identify the governing constraint for each workload, select an appropriate model, and validate each selection against an alternative.

-
Challenge
Identify the governing constraint for each workload: capability, input size, speed, or cost
- Examine the requirements of each business workload and identify whether cost, speed, capability, or input size is the primary constraint.
- Use the workload requirements to establish what the model comparison needs to demonstrate for each scenario.
-
Challenge
Run each workload on more than one candidate model and record where each falls short or adds unnecessary capability
- Compare each workload using two relevant Gemini candidate models and capture the resulting performance and cost evidence.
- Review model responses and comparison data to identify limitations, shortfalls, or capabilities that may not be necessary for the workload.
-
Challenge
Compare the results against each workload's governing constraint
- Evaluate the model comparison evidence in relation to the primary constraint identified for each workload.
- Use response quality, latency, token usage, and projected cost to determine how well each candidate satisfies the workload requirement.
-
Challenge
Select one model for each workload and record the constraint that determined the choice
- Select the model that best satisfies the requirements demonstrated by the comparison evidence.
- Record the selected model and the governing constraint that supported the decision for each workload.
-
Challenge
Validate each selection against a lower-cost or higher-capability alternative
- Review each selected model against its comparison alternative to determine whether the alternative provides a meaningful advantage or introduces unnecessary capability or cost.
- Confirm that each selection satisfies its governing constraint and remains appropriate within the shared workload budget.

Real skill practice before real-world application
Hands-on Labs are real environments created by industry experts to help you learn. These environments help you gain knowledge and experience, practice without compromising your system, test without risk, destroy without fear, and let you learn from your mistakes. Hands-on Labs: practice your skills before delivering in the real world.
