Charles Macdonald has been a CAD and FEA user for 20 years, dating back to his days at Rutgers University. After achieving his Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering with Aerospace option in 1998, he began his career which has spanned the globe in the UK, Japan, and now the US. His design experience ranges from the light and stiff requirements of motorsport, to the reliable and cost effective disciplines of production cars. The projects Charles has contributed to include: Le Mans prototype sportscars, Indycars, and the Nissan Rogue SUV, (Qashqai in EU). In 2007, he moved back to the US, as a design engineer in the NASCAR series with Hendrick Motorsports in Charlotte, North Carolina. To start 2016, Charles moved to Riley Technologies to return to sports car prototype design with the well renowned designer Bob Riley. CAD & Analysis Software Specialties: Using Siemens NX10 for modeling and free-form surfacing, while utilizing NX Nastran for FEA analysis and Flow analysis, Onshape, and SimSolid. Past software packages used include: I-DEAS, Unigraphics, Catia V4, and Solidworks. Past project contribution accomplishments include: 5 championship seasons with Hendrick Motorsports (2007, ‘08, ‘09, ‘10, and ‘13), Nissan R391 winning 1999 Fuji 1000, victory as a manufacturer (G-Force) in the 2000 Indy 500, several sportscar wins in Europe (Reynard 02S raced as a Zytek 04S), and the Nissan Rogue/Qashqai becoming a segment leader in mid-size cross-over SUV’s.
