Description

Throughout this Blender tutorial we'll explore some amazing tools and workflows that will prove essential to you as you start out on your 3D printing quest. We'll go through the basic printing methods and materials, and we'll also go over free 3D-modeling apps including Tinkercad and Blender. We'll cover methods of working with polygon geometry to prepare our models as well as cool techniques to lower the printing cost. We'll then upload the optimized models to Shapeways, the world's leading 3D-printing marketplace and community, for final checks before sending them to the printers. Though the videos will mostly focus on using Blender, the concepts apply to any 3D application of your choice. By the end of this Blender training, you'll have learned the fundamental workflows of preparing and optimizing your 3D models for any type of 3D printer. Software required: Blender 2.71, Tinkercad.com, Meshlab 1.3.3, netfabb Basic 5.1.1, Shapeways.com.

Hi everyone, my name is Apollo Spiliotis. I'm an architect, freelance CG artist, and 3D printing enthusiast in New York with a great passion for technology and digital design while specializing in building information modeling and architectural visualization. I've had the honor of working in studios in the UK, Greece, and the US on schools, offices, healthcare facilities, seaside villas, and hotels. In this course, we'll explore the world of 3D printing with some amazing tools and modeling methods that'll get you started on your 3D printing quest. But these videos would mostly focus on Blender and its specialized tools for 3D printing, but concepts can be applied to any 3D modeling app of your choice. We'll go over popular printing methods and materials, learn how to hollow up models and create some exciting wire frame structures to save on the printing cost. To finish off, we'll upload our design to Shapeways, the world's leading 3D printing marketplace and community before we send them off to the printers. As well as briefly go through how to sell your designs with your own Shapeways shop. By the end of the training, you'll have learned the fundamental workflows of preparing and optimizing your 3D models for any type of 3D printer.
