Overview of Podcasting
Hi. My name is Felbrigg Herriot, and welcome to my course on Getting Started in Podcasting. I've been creating audio podcasts for the last five years or so, and in this course I'll be sharing with you all the information you'll need to get yourself up and running with your own audio podcast. I'll be covering the theory and the practical as we move through the modules, and by the end, you'll be ready to get started with your own show. In this module, I'm going to give you an overview of what an audio podcast is, and what podcasts are used for. I'll also be discussing a number of points that you may want to consider before getting down to podcasting.

Preparing for the Podcast
In this module, we'll take a look at you, you're podcasting kit, and your environment, and how that affects the final output of your podcast. In detail, we'll be examining the voices you use on your podcast, scripting or not scripting, using your computer, what sort of computer, we'll have a look at microphones, we'll discuss the possible use of a compressor, we'll also talk about pop filters, and how you can alter your environment to improve your recording experience.

Using Audacity
Hi. In this module, I'll be taking you through the process of installing and using the Audacity recording software. I'll also introduce you to Levelator, which is an after recording process.

Creating a Web Site
In this module, I'm going to talk you through setting yourself up with a website, and also getting your RSS feed into place, and also sorting out your web hosting for all your MP3 files.

Music and Sound Effects
In this module, we're going to take a look at music and sound effects as they're used in your podcast. We're also going to consider the best way of using them; we're going to look at the legalities of using them; and I'm going to take you through some of the more common sources of music and sound effects.

Marketing
In this final module, we're going to look at marketing your podcast. That includes both telling people about your podcast, getting the news out, and considering the possibilities for making money with your podcast. There is a trick to making money with podcasts, but it strangely enough doesn't include charging for the podcast itself.
