What you'll learn

In this series of Unreal Engine tutorials, we'll explore some of the major features and uses for Matinee. To begin, we'll learn how to create a Matinee object and explore the Matinee interface. After that, we'll dive into using cameras and how they can be used to create cinematics in-game. Then, we'll build upon what we've learned by creating a multi camera cinematic with camera fades and camera cuts. Once we have a basic understanding of how to use the Matinee editor, we'll look at some more practical examples of using this powerful system to create interactive doors. Finally, we'll wrap up the Unreal Engine training by learning how to create a simple elevator that relies on player input. Software required: Unreal Engine 4.5.1.

Joshua is a devoted games author at Pluralsight. For years Joshua was a key author behind Digital-Tutors' (now a Pluralsight company) popular game engine training. As a kid, he had a passion for playing video games, which eventually developed into a fascination with the process of game creation. The question of "How'd they do that?" led Joshua on a quest to learn to make these games himself. Ever since then, Joshua has devoted his life to creating games, as well as teaching others to build their own fantastic video games.
