Throughout these lessons, we will explore techniques to create solid geometry from several of Rhino's basic modeling tools such as extrudes lofts, radii, and offset surfaces. Along the way we will look at analysis tools to ensure our parts are indeed solid and can stand up to exporting to manufacturing ready software and 3D printing. All of our parts will take practical, basic tooling and drafting into consideration and will join and interact with one another in a realistic feasible way. Software required: Rhino 5
Introduction and Project Overview Hi everyone. My name's Adam Fairless. I'm director of product development at WowWee Toys and Robotics. I've worked on many products that can be found on the retail shelf, as well as concepts on the screen, and vehicles on the road. I'm currently overseeing design efforts for WowWee's product line for 2016, 17. My skill set covers concept design, illustration, CAD, prototyping and manufacturing. In this course, we are going to use Rhino to build a toolbox with multiple parts and various modeling challenges. The specifics of this course involve exploring the creation of solids and integrating intersecting and joining parts together. We will start with simple curves, surfaces and quickly turn them into viable parts that will fit together and interact with one another. Some of the key take aways from watching this course include learning how to understand the basics of modeling solids in Rhino, build up complicated objects with simple geometry, use various 2D and 3D tools to make solids, create separate parts that interact and fit together, and validate solid geometry with analysis tools. By the end of the training, we will have learned techniques that allow you to create solids and analyze their validity for 3D printing as well as build objects that fit together to form a complete consumer product. I'm excited to share these tips and techniques with you so let's get started with the first lesson.
