Learning to manage file systems and storage in MacOS doesn't need to be difficult. In this course, Managing macOS File Systems and Storage, you’ll learn how to manage file systems and storage in a Mac with macOS. First, you’ll learn how to describe and compare file systems that macOS supports. Next, you’ll learn about the utilities you have available in macOS to manage, optimize, and repair partitions and volumes. Next, you will learn all about encryption, including system disk and data, including macOS FileVault tool for data encryption. Finally, you’ll learn about file and folder ownership and permissions, and how to manage them.

Course Overview
Hi, everyone. My name is Herta Nava, and I would like to welcome you to my course, Managing macOS File Systems and Storage. I am an independent consultant and author working on a variety of exciting projects such as software localization and cloud computing. I am also an Apple certified support professional and a very committed author at Pluralsight. Mac support is a widely searched skill the enterprise today. More and more companies are now supporting Mac, and therefore it is an important skill that you should seek to develop, especially if you work as help desk support, service technician, or technical coordinator. If you want to become an advanced Mac user, this course is definitely for you. On the other hand, this course is the third in a series that can help you prepare for the section related to macOS file systems and storage of the Apple Certified Support Professional Certification examination. Some of the major topics that we will cover include file systems supported by macOS, managing partitions and volumes, using encryption in macOS, managing ownership and permissions. By the end of this course, you will be familiar with the file systems supported by macOS, and you will feel comfortable managing partitions and volumes using the built‑in tools macOS provides. You will be able to use the macOS encryption technology called FileVault and manage ownership and permissions for files, folders, and other resources. For this course, it would be ideal to have basic skills on macOS and to be familiar with the macOS environment. We will use the latest macOS version as of the publication of this course, which is macOS Big Sur. But what you will learn will be of value to you regardless of the macOS version you're using. And if you have not seen the previous courses in this series, especially Installing and Configuring macOS and Managing User Accounts, I recommend you do.
