What you'll learn

Do you design unique parts and tool, but face challenges making the physical part? In this course, SOLIDWORKS - Preparing Designs for Sand Casting, you'll explore sand casting and final machining processes. Having a better understanding of these manufacturing methods will help you create better designs for sand casting. First, you'll learn the basic concepts of sand casting design, and explore the ins and outs of parting orientation. Next, you'll dive into some techniques, including tolerance calculation, tolerance stacking, and use of fillets and chamfers. Finally, you'll discover the mysteries of draft angles and how to apply shrink rates. By the end of this course, you'll know how to take conceptual part designs and prepare them for manufacturing via sand castings. Software required: SOLIDWORKS.
